Following the declaration of a provincial state of emergency, the issuance of the public health orders by the Provincial Health Officer and the postponement of other elections in the province by the Minister, I am postponing the scheduled election for Two Trustees for the Cherry Creek Waterworks District in April 2020. This action has been taken as our community is in a complex and rapidly evolving health situation and I consider the health and safety of persons and the integrity of the election proceedings are at risk. It would not be fair nor consistent with the current directives given by the province nor the legislation to expect potential candidates to go through the process of putting their names forward for an election at this time.
The election will be rescheduled following consultation with public health officials and the Ministry of Municipal and Housing.
